A graduate of Physiology from the University of Lagos with a Masters Degree in Public health from the University of Ibadan. She has over 4 years experience working in project management in both public and private organizations. A health promoter and education specialist. She is passionate about education, technology and healthcare. She works directly with the CEO at LifeBank on new projects, in a Special Projects capacity.

What experiences led you to technology and how did you develop the skills to compete in the industry?

I did not have any experience in technology before I joined LifeBank. LifeBank is more than a technology company, it is a technology and logistics company that has a significant impact on healthcare delivery in Nigeria. My background and experience in healthcare led me to LifeBank where I currently work. I wanted a new and exciting challenge in health technology and I got that with LifeBank. My project management skills in previous employment have been useful in working in tech. I love the fact that technology creates new opportunities to grow in all areas especially in the health industry which aligned with my career goals.

How has your background helped/differentiated you in the tech industry?

My background in public health has allowed me to lead new projects in health tech. The fact that I have a health education background gives me the skills to help build smarter and more empathetic tools that are centred around the patient/user experience. This has been really useful for me at LifeBank.

What advice would you give to women considering a career in technology? What do you wish you had known?

Do it, and love it. Most women believe you need deep IT skills before you can work in a tech company. This is wrong. There are a lot of roles and skills needed to work in the tech industry and so many different things you can do within the industry, so I would tell someone to just go for it and try.

I wish I had known that you don’t need deep IT skills to work in a tech company. I would have started much earlier.
